20-year-old found hanging in Navsari hotel bathroom

Surat: A 20-year-old youth died by suicide at a hotel in Navsari on Sunday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Meet Halpati, had checked into the hotel near Gandhi Crossing with a girl around 10am.

According to police, the incident came to light in the evening when Meet did not come out of the bathroom for a long time. The girl knocked repeatedly but received no response. She then alerted the hotel staff, who broke open the door and found him hanging inside.

The hotel management immediately informed the police. The body was sent to the civil hospital for postmortem examination.

Jalalpore police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation. Preliminary inquiries suggest that Meet may have taken the extreme step due to personal or family-related issues, though police said they were verifying all possible angles.
